Jump side kick at our Tuesday Drayton Class

Note from the Instructor

Moving into month two of 2024 – and half way towards the March grading – it’s great to see all our members have the focus and commitment to train and work towards their goals. This month, we’ve also started with our ambition to grow the community spirit and level up the martial arts learning experience. Our aim is to be the go-to martial arts club of choice in the whole of Oxfordshire, where we do more than just turn up and train at class.

Here’s February’s summary:

Kicks over the half-term holiday

This year, we’re running on a term-time only schedule. But – training doesn’t stop just because we’re away!

Many of our members take their training with them on holiday. Remember to take a snap and share with us to get featured!

Student of the Month

Elijah, Student of the Month for February 2024!

This month, Elijah was awarded the Student of the Month Award for February 2024!

One of our new members who joined us in this year, Elijah has started has Soo Bahk Do journey strong.

He trains twice a week, showing great courage to train with different groups, and gives 100% effort at every class. Not only that, he displays great leadership qualities through helping other white belts in partner work. Elijah also has great attention to detail, focus and performs his skills to a very high standard for a complete beginner.

As Instructor, I’ve been very impressed and amazed by his attitude and potential.

He’ll be going for his first grading in March.

Meet the Dojang X Social Team!

Dojang X Social Team: Jo (L) and Rachel (R)

As promised, our Dojang X Social Team is up and running! Big shout out to Jo and Rachel who’ve volunteered to plan and organise our year’s social calendar!

Over the year, they’ll be arranging a good variety of socials.

Stay tuned with our dedicated WhatsApp social group to vote, give suggestions and book on anything that’s of interest.

There’s something for everyone.

Little Ninjas comes to Longworth

Poster for the Martial Arts classes in Longworth

Due to the interest in our main class at Longworth Village, we’re piloting a new Little Ninjas Club in the local area. So, if you know of anyone in Longworth and/or the surrounding areas who may be interested in martial arts for their child, let them know we’re here!

Air time!

Across all our training locations, we’ve been developing our jump kicks as a fun fitness challenge! Jump kicks are a signature part of Soo Bahk Do and it’s therefore great to start developing these skills early. So, if you’re a parent reading this and you see your child jumping around – that’s why!

To come in March!

Master Gillian Dean, 4th Dan UK & Ireland Soo Bahk Do Federation member and Examiner, will be visiting our Dojang on 9th March 2024 to deliver a special seminar. Speak to Sabrina if you’d like to reserve a space!

On 23rd March 2024, we’ll have Master Peter Kidd attend our Dojang to hold our first martial arts grading of the year. Grading invitations for all eligible will be sent out within the next week.

We also have a few social events this month! Speak to Sabrina, Jo or Rachel for more info.

That’s a wrap!

If you have any ideas or suggestions that you’d like to see this year at our Club, get in touch!
