Today marks the 77th Anniversary of Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan, our martial art organisation founded by Hwang Kee.
At this time of year, practitioners often reflect about their journey so far.
For this article, I’d like to share some thoughts from my martial arts journey experience. Hopefully next year, a student at Dojang X will have enough training experience to share their own account 🙂.
Thoughts about belonging to Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan
Training in the Art is unique to any other activity that I’ve experienced in life so far.
In fact, it’s somewhat like a novel unravelling…
You begin your journey with a reason.
Over time, you meet people and have new experiences that you never imagined.
There are challenges and things that you overcome physically and mentally to progress. There’s repetition to improve but also enough change to keep you curious to improve.
The plot thickens…and you realise that you’re actually in a personal development journey that has become deeper than what made you embark on it.
And this is the beauty of being a martial arts practitioner.
